Scott Ryan was born in Havre De Grace, Maryland in 1965. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in 1987 and he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1991. Mr. Ryan served in the United States Army, both on active duty and National Guard and JAG Reserves. He has already served one tour of duty in Iraq and was recently redeployed for a second tour.
Mr. Ryan was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1991, and he is admitted to practice in all state and federal district courts in Oklahoma and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel. He has also attended the Defense Counsel Trial Academy and he is on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Ryan came to work for the predecessor to Taylor, Ryan, Schmidt & Van Dalsem, P.C., and has worked there as a trial attorney ever since. His practice areas include negligence, products liability, construction disputes and insurance disputes. Recently, he has been heavily involved in defense of E.I.F.S. and mold litigation. He has also practiced in the area of professional malpractice defense, including defending optometrists and insurance agents. He has completed approximately 85 civil jury trials as lead counsel in state, federal and military courts. He has been lead counsel in bad faith litigation involving claims for medical payments and uninsured motorist benefits.
