Jamie Kent Hamelburg, a member of Press, Potter & Dozier, LLC, graduated from The University of Michigan Law School in 1989. Following her graduation, Ms. Hamelburg began her legal career by clerking for the Honorable Rudolph J. Gerber on the Arizona Court of Appeals. She then moved to the Washington, DC area, where she became an associate at McKenna & Cuneo (now McKenna Long & Aldridge). She worked there from 1990-1995, where she gained extensive experience in litigation before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, and in bid protests before the General Accounting Office. Her practice included litigation of complex contractual issues, such as those arising out of the termination for default of the A-12 advanced tactical aircraft.

From 1995-1998, Ms. Hamelburg was the Editor-In-Chief of The Government Contractor, a weekly publication on government contract law and policy published by Federal Publications.

At Press, Potter & Dozier, LLC, Ms. Hamelburg's practice concentrates on general business law, where she counsels clients on issues including type of entity and start-up, employment and contractor agreements, operating agreements and bylaws, resolution of business disputes and debt collection, and succession planning and dissolution.

In her commercial real estate practice, Ms. Hamelburg reviews loan documents and advises on real estate transactions both simple and complex. She reviews lease agreements and also handles landlord/tenant and other property disputes, regularly appearing at the Maryland District Court’s Landlord Tenant Court. She represents landlords ranging in size from large commercial property owners and managers to small store-fronts and one-unit residences, and also represents tenants in both commercial and residential disputes. Ms. Hamelburg also prosecutes foreclosure actions and assists creditors on other matters regarding collection of debts. Additionally, she handles matters involving government contracts and trusts and estates.

Ms. Hamelburg is licensed to practice in both Maryland and Washington, DC. She serves as the Treasurer of the Rockville Scholarship Foundation, which awards scholarships to deserving students living or studying in Rockville, Maryland. She also is a member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Vice Chair of the Judicial Remedies Committee, part of the Section of Public Contract Law in the American Bar Association.
