Eric is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and Lateral Hiring Committee. Eric is a member of the Business Litigation Section and practices principally in the areas of:
Eric is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried cases to juries and judges in state and federal courts in Minnesota and throughout the country. He also represents clients in arbitrations and contested administrative hearings.
Eric has significant experience advising and representing financial institutions and retailers in disputes involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and state and federal consumer protection laws. His work often includes representing companies under investigation by government agencies and defending clients in government enforcement actions. Eric also represents companies in matters related to identity theft and consumer privacy laws.
Eric’s product liability work includes litigating commercial product damage, property damage, personal injury and wrongful death claims. He also advises clients on product warranty issues and liability disclaimers. In the employment area, Eric represents employers in breach of contract, non-compete and discrimination lawsuits.
In addition, Eric is a member of the Minnesota State and American Bar associations. He is currently serving on the Hamline University Alumni Board and is a member of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL). Eric is also the former chair of the Twin Cities Committee (TCC) on Minority Lawyers in Large Law Firms and former board member of the Hennepin County Bar Foundation. He has been named a "Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Eric received his B.A. cum laude from Hamline University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota and was on the Minnesota Law Review. Eric joined Briggs in 1993.
