My law office is located at 38 East Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701. I conduct a general civil practice with emphasis on litigation, both on the plaintiff's side and the defense side.
I am a 1965 graduate of Texas Tech University with a B.A. degree in political science. While at Texas Tech I was on the Dean's List and served on the Student Senate and worked to defray my college expenses. I graduated from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1968 with a Juris Doctor degree and I received the American Jurisprudence Award for Labor Law.
Following graduation from law school I spent almost four years in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps. I was stationed in San Diego, California on the staff of the Commandant, 11th Naval District serving as trial counsel, head of the court marshall review section and as a military judge. The last two years were spent at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland where I served as staff judge advocate for the Naval Station, Annapolis and for the Marine Barracks, Annapolis.
After discharge from the Navy, I served as an Assistant Attorney General of Texas under both Attorney General Crawford Martin and John Hill in the Insurance, Banking and Securities Division. In 1973 I became the General Counsel and Hearing Officer for the Texas Savings and Loan Department, conducting over 200 hearings.
In 1974 I joined the Austin law firm of McGinnis, Lochridge and Kilgore where my practice took me before state and federal courts, as well as hearing before the Texas Banking Department, the U.S. Comptroller of Accounts, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the Texas Insurance Department, Texas Railroad Commission and the Texas Savings and Load Department. Since 1990, I have been in private practice engaging in litigation matters involving serious bodily injury cases, contract disputes, construction litigation and insurance coverage disputes.
I am a member of the State Bar of Texas and authorized to practice in the U.S. District Courts in the Western District and Souther District of Texas as well as admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. I am a former director of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
