After graduating from the University of Florida School of Law in 1993, Juwayn Haddad practiced in Central Florida representing clients charged with misdemeanors. In 1994, Mr. Haddad moved back to Atlanta, Georgia, and was lead counsel in hundreds of cases ranging from low-level felonies to murder, gaining incomparable courtroom experience.
In 1997, Juwayn Haddad became the Chief Circuit Public Defender in the Mountain Judicial Circuit, where he ran the local public defender’s office, managed attorneys working in the office, and fiercely defended both juvenile and adult clients in a three county circuit.
In 2000, Mr. Haddad took a position at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office where he worked until 2012. During his time at the DeKalb Office, Mr. Haddad handled murders, armed robberies, sex crimes, theft cases, and white collar/RICO cases. He spent three years solely defending juveniles being tried as adults under the State's SB440 law, which gives a prosecutor the discretion to try juveniles as adults when they are accused of committing one of the seven serious crimes. Additionally, he spent over two years in the Complex Litigation Unit, solely representing individuals charged with violent felonies, high-profile cases, and white collar/RICO crimes.
Mr.Haddad has personally taken over one hundred cases to trial but knows that not every case needs or should go to trial. In those cases that did not proceed to trial, Juwayn Haddad had aggressively fought for his clients resulting in pleas to reduced charges or outright dismissals.
