September Guy has always fought for the underdog.  As a member of the Georgia Bar since 2001, September Guy has represented thousands of clients charged with violating the law in Georgia.  With her over ten years of criminal defense experience, Ms. Guy, has represented clients charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies of all levels.  Ms. Guy has represented clients at the appellate level, fighting to overturn convictions through a diligent review of trial transcripts, motion for new trial hearings, and briefs submitted to the appellate court.  Always determined to fight for those who were wrongfully convicted, September Guy co-founded the Georgia Innocence Project in 2002, and knows first hand how devastating a felony conviction can be to both the client and their families.

September Guy started her career working as a criminal defense and civil attorney in Rossville, Georgia with The Townley Law Firm.  While working there, she learned that hard work, dedication, and preparedness are the key to effective representation.

September Guy later joined the DeKalb County Public Defender's Office where her passion for helping those facing life altering criminal charges continued.  For over nine years, Ms. Guy worked diligently to guarantee that her client's constitutional rights were protected, gaining exceptional courtroom experience at the same time.  Her dedication to continually improving the criminal justice system and the way that the court systems interact with criminal defendants led to her serving for five years on the DeKalb County Drug Court team and co-founding the DeKalb County Public Defender's Mental Health Unit, the first of its kind in the State of Georgia, which exclusively represented clients with severe mental health issues.  Therapeutic jurisprudence became a passion.

September Guy is a graduate of The University of Georgia and Georgia State University School of Law.  While in law school, Ms. Guy served as Assistant Editor of Law Review.  She also was a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, receiving two service awards for her work while in law school.

Ms. Guy co-founded The Georgia Innocence Project in 2002, served as the Board President, and was on the Board of Directors for a number of years.  Based on this achievement, Ms. Guy received the State Bar of Georgia, Young Lawyer's Division, Special Achievement Award.

In her years of practice, September Guy has continued her criminal defense education by attending the National Criminal Defense College, as well as The Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer's Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program.  Additionally, September Guy has been a speaker on various criminal defense issues and published an article in the Georgia Defender.
