Chris Groves practices in a broad spectrum of commercial litigation matters, including environmental insurance coverage litigation, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, employment-related class actions, consumer class actions, corporate takeover litigation, shareholder derivative litigation, patent infringement, and license agreement disputes. He also handles mass tort litigation involving consumer, toxic tort, and product liability claims.
Chris has handled matters for clients including Allied Riser Corporation, Alon, Beazer East, Delphi, Fina, Goodman Manufacturing, Invensys, KB Home, Morgan Stanley, North Safety Products, Occidental Chemical, Parker Hannifin, Texas Instruments, Textron, U.S. Silica, and Verizon. Recently, he successfully argued an appeal at the 10th Circuit that affirmed the dismissal by the U.S. Court of the Northern District of Oklahoma of a putative class action against Goodman Manufacturing alleging that Goodman breached its warranty on 800,000 air conditioning units due to an unmanifested defect. During the current economic cycle, Chris has been involved in a number of bankruptcy-related adversary proceedings. He continues to act as national counsel to a safety products company in litigation involving more than 25,000 individual claimants in 20 states.
Chris is an alumnus of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Dallas Program. He is also listed as one of D Magazine's "Best Lawyers Under 40" and a "Texas Rising Star" in Texas Monthly and Law & Politics magazine. Chris is a strong supporter of Children's Medical Center, recently chairing The Children's Trust.
