Whitaker attended high school at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN where he spent several summers attending leadership programs abroad. Upon graduation from high school he followed his love of the outdoors and an active lifestyle by enrolling at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He spent his first few years studying physics and other sciences before discovery his passion for debate and the law. While studying political science, he was repeatedly honored with the distinction of the Dean’s List. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, he enrolled at the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was again honored with the distinction of the Dean’s List. Throughout law school, he clerked for the law firm Baucom Claytor and was brought on as a full-time associate after graduation. Since beginning his practice at Baucom Claytor, he has practiced primarily in litigation with a focus on Construction Defect Litigation, Personal Injury Defense and Plaintiff Litigation, Homeowners Association Litigation, and Corporate & Business Litigation. Other areas of practice include: Landlord/Tenant Disputes, Wrongful Death Litigation, and Medical Malpractice Litigation.
