Dr. Grimes spent two years working in technology transfer for the UK Medical Research Council, where she was responsible for procurement and licensing of the oncology, virology and neuroscience patent portfolios.
From 1996 to 2000, Dr. Grimes was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Neurobiology at the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Her postdoctoral research focused on the regulation of gene expression in the nervous system.
Dr. Grimes received her PhD from Imperial College, University of London, where her thesis research involved the cell biology of cancer metastasis.
