Trish Dunn represents employers in all of their dealings with labor unions. She has substantial experience in negotiating labor agreements, having bargained multiple union contracts as lead negotiator, and in advising clients on bargaining strategies, employee communications, and contingency planning. Trish also represents employers in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and in labor-related litigation in federal courts under Section 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act, as well as in labor arbitrations. She works with employers in representation cases, including union organizing and decertification efforts, and advises employers on union avoidance.
Trish gained experience in the labor field first as a labor and employment attorney at Jones Day from 1983 to 1997 and then as The Washington Post's vice president/labor from 1998 to 2008, before rejoining Jones Day in 2011. Representing employers in media, education, communications, transportation and other industries, Trish works with employers on bargaining strategies designed to secure labor contracts with strong management rights and operational flexibility. She also works with employers to address a variety of employee benefits issues, including negotiating union contracts providing flexibility in designing health care plans, and has focused extensively on assisting employers in dealing with liabilities under multiemployer pension plans. She has significant experience in unfair labor practice matters, with particular emphasis on failure to bargain, mid-term bargaining and impasse issues. Trish is a frequent speaker on traditional labor law developments, including the evolving issues relating to social media in the workplace.
Trish is a member of the ABA (Labor and Employment Law Section) and the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
