Nick was born and raised in Southcentral Alaska. He held a variety of odd jobs as he attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage, everything from working as a deckhand on a commercial fishing boat to serving as a jury clerk for the local courts. He attended law school at the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he tutored students in constitutional law and led an organization that visited area high schools, giving presentations on search & seizure law and the privacy rights of students. His experience in the Pacific Northwest was so positive he decided to stay, and has lived in Washington ever since.
