Jessica P. Gomez was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Riverside High School and graduated with honors from The University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting in 1994. Her practice area is focused on labor and employment law, including employment and general litigation. She also assists clients with state and federal income tax matters. Ms. Gomez is admitted to practice law in Texas and New Mexico. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the United States Tax Court.
Ms. Gomez received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2004. During law school, Ms. Gomez was a member of the Editorial Board of the St. Mary’s Law Journal serving as Comment Editor. As a staff writer for the St. Mary’s Law Journal, Ms. Gomez wrote a comment titled “Accountants’ Accountability in Texas” which was published in the St. Mary’s Law Journal, 35 St. Mary’s L.J. 135 (2003). Ms. Gomez also served as an intern to the Honorable Emilio M. Garza of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit where she researched case law on employment discrimination, death penalty cases, and habeas corpus appeals. Ms. Gomez was President of the Hispanic Law Students’ Association during her third year as a law student and a member of Phi Delta Phi.
Ms. Gomez is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. Before entering law school, Ms. Gomez spent three years in the tax practice with KPMG. She is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Mexican-American Bar Association (MABA), the El Paso Women’s Bar Association, and the El Paso Young Lawyers’ Association.
She is a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountant, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Mexican-American Bar Association (MABA), the El Paso Women’s Bar Association, and the El Paso Young Lawyers’ Association.
Ms. Gomez is the proud mother of one daughter, Natalie Marie.
