In addition to his family law practice, Mr. Gonzalez is board certified in criminal law and maintains an active criminal law practice. He represents adults and juveniles who have been accused of criminal behavior and practices in both county and district court in Collin and surrounding counties.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gonzalez spent ten years with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office where he held several positions including that of chief felony prosecutor and chief of the white-collar crime section. He has taken countless cases to trial involving offenses ranging from misdemeanors to capital murder. He spent two years practicing appellate law and has presented cases before various Texas Courts of Appeals as well as the highest criminal law appellate court in the state, The Court of Criminal Appeals. He also has extensive experience prosecuting and defending juveniles charged with both misdemeanors and felonies.
Mr. Gonzalez has been very active in the community in Collin and Dallas Counties and with several charitable organizations. He has served on the board of the American Red Cross of North Texas (2002-2003), served as a fundraising committee member to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA, Jerry's kids) (1999 2004), coached the Plano Senior High School Mock Trial Team in 2004 and 2005, and has participated as a mentor in the H.O.S.T.S (Helping One Student To Succeed) mentor program in local elementary schools.
