Michael Dommermuth is an AV® Preeminent™ Rated commercial lawyer who represents clients in a variety of matters relating to contracts and business issues. Michael’s practice includes counseling and representation of businesses in contract disputes, business torts, covenant-not-to-compete disputes, commercial real estate disputes, oil and gas disputes, creditor representation in bankruptcy, consumer class actions, and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
A significant portion of Michael’s practice is devoted to representation of automobile dealerships in Colorado and throughout the Rocky Mountain West. He represents dealer clients in a variety of areas, including drafting contracts, litigation, buy-sell and finance issues, consumer disputes and related litigation, manufacturer disputes, new point protests, federal and state compliance, bankruptcy, real estate issues, contract disputes, commercial torts, floor plan review and negotiation, and covenant-not-to-compete litigation.
Michael co-authored the Colorado Dealer Compliance Guide in 2011. The Compliance Guide is a comprehensive guide to state law issues for Colorado Motor Vehicle Dealers published by the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association. Michael is a frequent speaker for the Colorado Automobile Dealer Association and has presented on Internet Sales Best Practices, Arbitration and Class Action Waivers, and Legal Implications of Social Media. Michael has also spoken at the National Association of Dealer Counsel Annual Conference on the subjects of Purchase Agreements and Arbitration and Class Action Waivers.
Michael joined McGloin, Davenport, Severson and Snow in 1985 and became a shareholder in 1990. Michael received a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 1980 and a Juris Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington in 1983. Michael is admitted to practice law in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and all Colorado state courts.
Michael is also licensed to practice in Indiana and Illinois, inactive status.
