Nina C. Remson, Esq. is an attorney in private practice in Hackensack, NJ. She has been practicing law for twenty years and is admitted to the Bars of New Jersey and New York and various Federal Courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ms. Remson received her Bachelor's Degree from Douglass College, Rutgers University in 1988 and her Law Degree from Rutgers Law School in Newark in 1991. She served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Martin J. Kole, J.A.D., in the Bergen County Superior Court from 1991-1992.
Ms. Remson serves as the Secretary of the District Ethics Committee for Districts IIA and IIB, screening and docketing grievances made by the public against attorney's alleged to have violated the Rules of Professional Responsibility and overseeing the investigation and prosecution of such complaints. Ms. Remson has participated in a CLE (continuing legal education) program, presenting ethics rules, issues and grievance procedures to her colleagues.
Ms. Remson is active in professional associations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA), where she currently serves as Secretary of the GLBT Section and is running for election as Chair-Elect. The GLBT Section serves the interests of attorneys and the public involved in cases and the pursuit of legislation pertaining to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community throughout the State of New Jersey and has lectured on Civil Union/Marriage Equality laws. Ms. Remson is also a member of Garden State Equality, the largest LGBT grassroots community organization in New Jersey, which has successfully promoted Anti-Bullying Legislation and continues to fight for Marriage Equality.
Ms. Remson is also a member of other NJSBA Sections, including the Criminal Law Section, Municipal Court Section, Family Law Section, Solo Practice Section and Women in the Profession Section.
She is moderating a seminar entitled Criminal and Immigration Issues Affecting the GLBT Client co-sponsored by the GLBT and Criminal Law Sections at the 2011 NJSBA Annual Conference in Atlantic City. She is developing a curriculum for a CLE class on Municipal Court Practice, which is scheduled to be presented in October of 2011.
Ms. Remson is the Secretary of Women Lawyers in Bergen (WLIB), where she has been diligently working with the WLIB President to achieve CLE provider status for that organization. WLIB is one of the most established women attorney professional organizations in the State of New Jersey, having been organized in 1976. Ms. Remson intends to continue serving the organization for many years to come.
Ms. Remson is active in the Bergen County Bar Association (BCBA) as well, serving on the Criminal, Juvenile and Municipal Court Committees. Ms. Remson organized a Parent Coordination seminar co-sponsored by WLIB and BCBA and co-presented another jointly sponsored CLE on Domestic Violence.
Ms. Remson is on the court-appointed attorney list to represent allegedly incapacitated individuals in guardianship proceedings in Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex and Morris Counties. She has represented many such individuals in Bergen County and will be presenting a CLE with the Bergen County Assignment Judge and another attorney in May 2011 on this subject. She is also a member of the Guardianship Association of New Jersey, Inc.
Ms. Remson is active in her community. She has served on her condominium association board for six years and is sensitive to the needs of her neighbors and issues affecting the local community.
