Nan Giner is the chair of and partner in the Private Client Practice Group. She joined the firm in 1985. Ms. Giner represents company founders and other entrepreneurs, and domestic and international families. Ms. Giner assists her clients on a broad range of personal planning matters, with an emphasis on sophisticated wealth transfer strategies.
Practice
Ms. Giner provides a broad range of services to individual clients and their families beginning with basic estate planning, such as wills and revocable trusts, and continuing with strategies for lifetime asset transfers designed to minimize transfer taxes, such as Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), Charitable Lead Trusts (CLATs) and Family Limited Liability Companies (FLLCs). Ms. Giner represents company founders, venture capitalists and other entrepreneurs in different stages of development, and advises them about estate planning strategies, with a particular focus on integrating tax issues with securities law and partnership issues. Her representation of clients also includes planning for and implementing US and foreign ownership and management structures. Achieving her clients’ personal objectives and minimizing income, gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes are central to Ms. Giner’s practice.
