Ginsburg, Shana R.

Ms. Ginsburg practices in the areas of education law and general liability. A member of the Maryland Bar, Ms. Ginsburg has both private and public sector experience in the areas of juvenile advocacy, family law, and complex civil litigation, and is a certified Best Interest Attorney. Prior to joining the Thatcher Law Firm, LLC, Ms. Ginsburg served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Hassan El-Amin in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Ms. Ginsburg previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable A. Michael Chapdelaine and a judicial intern for the Honorable Sherrie L. Krauser.

After graduating from Duke University with a North Carolina teaching certification and a double major in public policy and English, Ms. Ginsburg taught American Literature in the Georgia public school system for two years, where she created a counseling program for struggling students.  While teaching, Ms. Ginsburg established a tutoring business, Strategic Tutoring, to assist special needs students of all ages, high school students preparing for college, and college students seeking advanced degrees in law, education, and business. 

While pursuing her law degree at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Ms. Ginsburg received a grant from the Maryland Public Interest Law Project to investigate and address violations of the rights of special education students under The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  Ms. Ginsburg also received an Asper Fellowship that enabled her to work with the Juvenile Protection Division of the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore, Maryland and investigate the complaints of students held in juvenile detention centers throughout the state. In addition, Ms. Ginsburg obtained training and experience as a courtroom advocate by serving as a Rule 16 student-attorney in the Juvenile Court Division of the Office of the Public Defender through her law school’s Juvenile Advocacy Clinic.
