Mr. DiBiase's undergraduate work was done at the University of Southern California from which he graduated with honors in 1970. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1973 after graduating from the UCLA School of Law. Since joining the firm in 1974, Mr. DiBiase has worked in several insurance defense specialties, including fidelity claims and litigation; attorneys and other professional liability defense, including directors & officers; and insurance claims practices (bad faith) litigation. He is a member of and has presented numerous papers to the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee and the Standing Committee on Lawyers' Professional Liability of the American Bar Association, the Professional Liability Underwriters Society (PLUS), the International Association of Defense Counsel, the National Bond Claims Association, the Fidelity Law Association, and the Surety Claims Institute. He is a former chair of the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee of the American Bar Association, and is an ongoing member of the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. DiBiase's publications include the update to the Annotated Bankers Blanket Bond (1982), the National Institute on Fidelity Bonds (1983), and the National Institute on Financial Institution Bonds (1989). He participated as well in Financial Institution Bond (1995, 2003 and 2008) and Commercial Crime Policy (1996 and 2006) programs and presented papers to the Surety Claims Institute (1997 and 1998), the Fidelity Law Association (1997, 2008 and 2011), and the National Bond Claims Association (1998). Mr. DiBiase participated in the Consumer Attorneys of Southern California Mock Trial of the "Complex Lawyer Malpractice Case" in 1997, and in 1999 was chair on the mock trial of complex loan loss case at the mid-winter meeting of the IADC. He has also prepared and presented papers at ten mid-winter or annual meetings of the American Bar Association.
