Gigliotti, Stephen A

Steve has been a partner in the firm since 1999 and currently serves as a member of the management committee.  He primarily represents businesses in complex civil litigation. He has assisted businesses in courtrooms across the country and in arbitration forums to resolve a wide variety of disputes, including those concerning contracts and general business issues, environmental issues, trademark issues, trade secret issues, and employment matters. 

Representative Experience

Obtained defense verdict after a two and a half week jury trial in which a major gas marketer sought $50 million, claiming an index replacement clause had been triggered;

Successfully defended five weeks of arbitration in a case involving allegations that a major refinery overcharged its customer ten million dollars for steam under a shared services agreement;

Successfully pursued engineering, design and construction firm and its insurers through six weeks of arbitration in a case involving the design and construction of a 50 megawatt cogeneration facility;

Successfully defended a dependent administrator in a two week adversary trial involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty;

Successfully defended condominium developer in jury trial brought by homeowner association involving allegations of construction defects;

Successfully defended major oil company through a week and a half jury trial in an age and race discrimination case;

Successfully defended locally owned bank through a week long jury trial in an age discrimination case;

Successfully defended major refinery in an H2S exposure case in which the plaintiff alleged that the exposure resulted in his being in a permanent vegetative state;

In a pro bono matter, filed amicus brief on behalf of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf in a case involving the refusal to provide appropriate accommodations to a medical student with a profound hearing loss.

First Vice President, Board of Directors of Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a non-profit organization that is a lifelong resource, support network and advocate for listening, learning, talking and living independently with hearing loss. (2005 - 2008).

President of Auditory-Verbal International Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching deaf children how to listen and speak (2003 - 2005); Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of Auditory-Verbal International, Inc. (1998 - 2005).

Children's Rights Coordinator for the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (2001 - 2005).
