Mr. Dexter has considerable experience representing creditors in business reorganization and consumer bankruptcy cases and, among other things, has successfully pursued multi-million dollar environmental claims, defended numerous preference actions, represented financial institutions holding secured claims, prosecuted non-dischargeability actions and relief from stay actions, and advised creditors serving on Chapter 11 creditor committees. Mr. Dexter has also advised entities on various pre-bankruptcy planning issues and has considerable experience in commercial litigation matters.
Before joining Lathrop & Gage, Mr. Dexter worked as a clerk for the Honorable Arthur J. Spector, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Eastern District of Michigan, for five years. During his clerkship with Judge Spector, Mr. Dexter was the lead law clerk on the Dow Corning Corporation Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. He also worked as an intern for the Honorable Arthur B. Federman, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Western District of Missouri.
