Eliza Brink Dermody joined Bernabei & Wachtel, PLLC following a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. During her clerkship, Ms. Dermody worked on a wide variety of complex civil and criminal matters, including numerous employment discrimination cases and the Guantanamo Bay detainee litigation. Before clerking for Judge Urbina, Ms. Dermody served as a law clerk for the Honorable Frederick H. Weisberg of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Ms. Dermody graduated cum laude from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2007 following internships in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's San Francisco District Office and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. At U.C. Hastings, Ms. Dermody served as a Legal Writing and Research Teaching Assistant and as a student mediator in the San Francisco Superior Court's small claims division. Ms. Dermody also served as the Managing Editor of the Hastings Women's Law Journal, as an executive board member of the Hastings Negotiation and Mediation Team, and as a research assistant for U.C. Hastings' Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution.
Prior to law school, Ms. Dermody graduated from Smith College, where she majored in Government. Ms. Dermody is proficient in Spanish.
