Since receiving his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1976, Alexander Garlin has been trying cases in Colorado courts for more than 25 years. Alex headed a Colorado multi-county Public Defenders' Office early in his career, and he has defended individuals charged in a wide variety of misdemeanors and felonies, including capital crimes. His trial experience includes civil litigation as well, representing victims of medical malpractice, defective products and automobile collisions. Alex has earned the highest peer ratings for legal ability and general ethical standards. He has given CLE presentations concerning both civil and criminal practice. Alex co-chaired the Membership Committee of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, was chair of CTLA's 2000 Annual Convention, and served on CTLA's Board of Directors. He also co-chaired the Medical-Legal and Criminal Law sections of the Boulder County Bar Association, of which he has twice served as a member of the Board of Directors. He was the president of the Boulder County Bar Association for the 2000-2001 term. Alex is one of the Boulder County Bar Association's delegates to the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association. He is also a member of the 20th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee. Alex is the Secretary of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and will be its president in 2008. He is also Co-Chair of the Boulder Chapter of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.
