Mr. Garofoli was one of the most well respected members of the legal community of Greater Cleveland. Moving to the Cleveland area to attend John Carroll University, Mr. Garofoli became an integral part of the legal and political scene in his adoptive town. He graduated from John Carroll University in 1957 and received his law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1961. Prior to starting the private practice of law in 1975, he served as a Trust Officer and attorney for the National City Bank of Cleveland.
Mr. Garofoli began his public service in 1965 with his election as a member of the City Council of the City of Cleveland where he held the position of Council President until 1972. He was also Chairman of the Democratic Party of Cuyahoga County, a member and Chairman of Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, a member and Chairman of Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and a member and Chairman of Cleveland State University Board of Trustees.
Mr. Garofoli served as Special Counsel to the Mayor of the City of Cleveland, City Council for City of Cleveland, the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, Gateway Economic Development Authority and several other State and municipal entities and officials. He was admitted to practice before the Ohio, Florida, District of Columbia and United States Supreme Courts and was a member of the Ohio, Florida, District of Columbia, Cuyahoga County and Cleveland Bar Associations. Mr. Garofoli was also a former President of the Cleveland-Marshall Alumni Association.
Mr. Garofoli made many appearances as a lecturer including presentations at John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Catholic University and Case Western Reserve University.
