Barbara has practiced labor and employment law for more than 30 years. Her clients include the Milwaukee Teachers Education Association, the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 998, and the Milwaukee Newspaper Guild-CWA. Barbara has also represented hundreds of individuals in discrimination and other employment related claims.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Barbara holds a Masters degree from Harvard University and received her law degree from Northeastern University. In 1995, she was appointed by the U.S. District Court in New York as Election Officer to supervise the 1996 national Teamster elections. In 2004, she was recognized by the League of Martin, an organization of Milwaukee's African-American police officers, for service as their counsel for the past 24 years. In 2004 and 2008 Barbara served as Legal Coordinator for Milwaukee Election Protection, a coalition of organizations defending voting rights and monitoring election practices and polling places in Milwaukee.
Barbara is co-founder and member of the Wisconsin Employment Lawyers Association and has served on the boards of the Wisconsin Bar's Labor and Employment Section and the Wisconsin Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association. She has consistently been listed in the Best Lawyers in America and recognized as one of the best lawyers in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine and Super lawyers. Best Lawyers named her "Milwaukee Best Lawyers Employment Law-Individuals Lawyer of the Year" for 2012.
