R. Anthony DeLuca was raised in the area around Greensburg , Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with Honors from Hempfield High School in 1990. He then attended Boston College. Following his graduation in 1994, Mr. DeLuca attended the University of Pittsburgh Law School, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997. He was admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1997.
Upon graduation from Law School, Mr. DeLuca accepted judicial clerkships from Justice Frank J. Montemuro and Judge Maureen Lally-Green of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. While serving as a judicial law clerk, Mr. DeLuca reviewed appeals and drafted memoranda and opinions regarding a wide variety of legal issues including Criminal Appeals, Contracts, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, PCRA Petitions and a wide variety of other matters.
Mr. DeLuca entered the Allegheny County District Attorney's office, where he served as an Assistant District Attorney until 2005. While in the District Attorney's Office, Mr. DeLuca prosecuted a variety of matters including Homicide, Robbery, Burglary, Theft, Embezzlement, White Collar Crimes, Aggravated and Simple Assaults, Felony and Misdemeanor Drugs, Domestic Violence, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Aggravated Assault and Homicide DUIs, Firearms, Traffic Violations, Summary Offenses, bonds and a wide variety of other criminal court matters, in various stages of the criminal justice system, including the filing of charges for formal arraignment, preliminary hearings, pretrial conferences, pleas, trials and sentencing hearings. In said representation, Mr. DeLuca handled hundreds of jury and non-jury trials.
In addition, while in the District Attorney's Office, Mr. DeLuca was integrally involved with the formation of a Pittsburgh City/Municipal Court Plea Program. He also served as the senior prosecutor in the City/Municipal Courts and, as the assigned prosecutor to the Allegheny County Mental Health Court, Mr. DeLuca was instrumental in the development and expansion of the Mental Health Court Program. Following his involvement with the Mental Health Court, Mr. DeLuca served in the Robbery, Burglary, Complex Theft, Embezzlement, White Collar Crime Unit of the Office. In said capacity, Mr. DeLuca prosecuted homicide matters as well as other serious felonies.
Mr. DeLuca saw a need for skilled representation of individuals in the legal system and, as a result, began his legal practice in 2005. In that period of time, Mr. DeLuca has handled hundreds of cases in the State and Federal Systems as a criminal defense attorney including a multitude of jury trials, non-jury trials, pleas, sentencing matters, bond matters, appeals, PCRAs, and ARDs. Mr. DeLuca continually tried matters to successful verdicts for his clients.
Mr. DeLuca believes that defendants are entitled to a vigorous defense, which requires a great deal of attention to each individual's case.
