Carter DeLorme defends corporations nationwide against employment-related lawsuits brought under federal and state statutes, including class actions and complex single and multiplaintiff cases, and advises companies on union avoidance and collective bargaining-related matters. He serves as lead counsel in discrimination, wage and hour, and trade secret and restrictive covenant cases in federal and state courts around the country. Carter leads company efforts to remain union free, respond effectively to corporate campaigns, and engage in effective collective bargaining with various national and international unions. He also advises employers covered by the Railway Labor Act, including Class I railroads. Carter partners with Major League Baseball teams concerning player salary arbitration matters.
Carter recently has defended a variety of national and local employers in complex class action cases and single and multiplaintiff litigation, including Bloomberg, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, and Verizon. He currently performs salary arbitration work for the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers. Carter has assisted a number of employers, including CSX Transportation and Quadrangle Management, with union-related matters.
Carter serves on the Recruiting Committee and Diversity Task Force in the Washington Office. He also serves on the board of the Project for Attorney Retention, of which Jones Day is a member. In addition, Carter speaks frequently on issues of importance to large employers, including recent talks on the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 and employee blogging in the workplace.
