Sandra practices in the area of consumer bankruptcy and has focused primarily in this area for the past 10 years. She graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Business degree in 1989, and graduated from Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 1995. David and Sandra met in law school and upon graduation moved to Hernando County to be close to David’s family. David’s father, Elmer Day, was the first State Farm Agent to open in Hernando County back in 1980.
Sandra has been very active in the community and has served on the Board of the Hernando County YMCA for five years. She has chaired the Annual Giving Campaign two consecutive years and was President of the YMCA Board for two years also. David and Sandra funded a playground at the Hernando County YMCA in memory of David’s late father.
Sandra served as President of the Hernando County Bar Association in 2006-2007 and chaired the annual Law Week program. She is also a member of the Tampa Bay Bar Association and the National Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys.
Sandra served on the Pasco-Hernando Community College Foundation Board of Directors from 2008-2011. She enjoyed her work with this organization raising money and awareness for scholarships for the college and its students.
Most recently, in 2011, Sandra co-founded, with a few colleagues, My Career Closet, a new non-profit in Hernando County. My Career Closet is a place that women in need of business attire can go for a job interview suit and a week’s worth of business clothing, including shoes and handbags. All of the clothing is donated and The Day Law Office serves as a drop off location in the area.
Sandra is active and passionate about helping people and enjoys what she does for a living as she feels she really helps people. Because Sandra lives in Hernando County, she sees past and present clients all of the time when she is out and is constantly reminded that she is helping people get a fresh start. It brings her joy to hear stories of how her clients have rebounded and bounced back from bankruptcy.
