I came to the practice of law somewhat indirectly; although, in retrospect, it seems inevitable that I would become a lawyer. You see, I had been told many times throughout my life that I should go to law school. Eventually, I heeded the advice and went to law school as a 50 year old. Prior to entering law school, I had a professional employment history that included active duty service in the United States Navy and a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors as either a company founder or senior executive. I enjoyed, and have benefited from, my experiences in the world of business and in the service of this country. In fact, I feel that those experiences inform and enhance the quality of the legal services I deliver to our clients. Honesty and dedication to the duties I undertake on behalf of our clients are the touchstones that underpin the client service philosophy that guides my actions.
As an attorney, I have focused my practice in the areas of criminal (including DUI/DWI and traffic violations) and civil litigation (including personal injury and medical/professional malpractice), commercial law and bankruptcy litigation. I enjoy the challenges associated with trial practice and zealously strive to achieve the optimum results for our clients. I recognize that the sometimes arcane and opaque character of legal proceedings can be distressing for our clients. Therefore, I make every effort to communicate clearly, and often, with our clients to ensure that they are kept abreast of our actions on their behalf.
I enjoy automobile racing, scuba diving and skiing. I am a founding board member of HeartSmart, a charity that raises funds to facilitate the placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) throughout Maryland. I have three children and a lovely wife, who is also a lawyer in this firm.
