Clayton Forswall is an associate attorney in the Houston office of Jackson Gilmour & Dobbs, P.C. Mr. Forswall began working with the firm in 2010 as a law clerk while attending the University of Houston Law Center. He graduated from law school in 2011 and is currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Mr. Forswall is an active member of several community organizations in and around Houston including the Galveston Bay Foundation and Trees for Houston. He grew up in Fort Worth and currently lives in Houston with his wife.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Mr. Forswall's practice currently consists of complex matters involving the environment, including litigation concerning the remediation and restoration of contaminated properties, cost-recovery and contribution actions, claims for property and economic damages, and the assessment and recovery of natural resource injuries and damages. In addition, Mr. Forswall has assisted with complex corporate legal issues regarding alter-ego, fraudulent transfers, and civil conspiracy. He has served as part of the team representing the State of Louisiana and the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office in litigation connected with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Mr. Forswall also serves as a part of the team operating as Special Counsel to the State of New Jersey pursuing natural resource damages and remediation costs in relation to the dioxin contamination in the Passaic River and Newark Bay.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Mr. Forswall attended the University of Houston Law Center while working as an environmental consultant for AECOM and received his J.D. in 2011. He served as a board member of the Energy and Environmental Law Policy Journal and president of the Environmental and Energy Law Society. In 2004, Mr. Forswall received a bachelor's degree with majors in Economics and Environmental Science from Rice University. Shortly thereafter, he began working as an environmental consultant in Austin, Texas and later with AECOM in East Texas and in Houston. As a consultant, Mr. Forswall assisted real estate developments, upstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, and petrochemical facilities with permitting, groundwater monitoring, and site remediation issues. He has also consulted on Clean Water Act Wetland permits, Endangered Species Incidental Take permits, site remediation under the Texas Voluntary Cleanup Program, and also Louisiana's Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program.
