Amy E. Fouts focuses her practice on a variety of litigation, regulatory and compliance issues. She advises clients on many aspects of health care law, with a particular emphasis on fraud and abuse, corporate compliance, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, false claims and other government investigation issues, and defense of allegations of False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback, and Stark Law violations.
Ms. Fouts advises clients on Medicare and Medicaid coverage, reimbursement and coding issues involving physicians, hospitals and other health care providers. She has significant experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and third party payor overpayment and recoupment appeals. In addition, Ms. Fouts routinely advises and defends clients under review by Medicare's Recovery Audit Contractors and the Medicaid Integrity Contractor Program.
Ms. Fouts deals extensively with the creation and implementation of corporate compliance programs and compliance training. Representative engagements include the development and review of corporate compliance program and policies, including review of HIPAA Privacy and Security compliance programs.
Ms. Fouts has published a variety of articles relating to billing and reimbursement and fraud and abuse matters. She has also presented at several educational programs and professional conferences on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, billing and coding documentation issues and fraud and abuse matters.
Ms. Fouts was ranked by Chambers USA as one of Georgia's leading lawyers for health care law in 2010. Additionally, Atlanta Magazine recognized Ms. Fouts as a "Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star" in 2009 and 2010.
