Mr. Foodman is Of Counsel to Watson Rounds and practices all aspects of strategic intellectual property counseling. He has extensive experience as a corporate executive managing large global IP organizations and IP portfolios. These experiences extend to a wide range of industries including computer hardware and software, telecommunications, oilfield services, gaming and consumer marketing. As a seasoned intellectual property attorney, Mr. Foodman has instituted best practices across all areas of the IP spectrum: from patent preparation and prosecution, licensing, assessing and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other IP-centric transactions, to evaluating and managing IP litigation, and advising executive management and corporate boards. Mr. Foodman has also provided intellectual property education and training to technical staff and has aided clients in achieving quality-to-cost efficiencies, all with the goal of maximizing the value of corporate clients’ IP assets.
Mr. Foodman’s experience is demonstrated by his impressive resume. He was General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Walker Digital Management, LLC, an independent R&D lab that invents new ways to conduct consumer oriented businesses. He has also been Vice President, Intellectual Property at Avaya; Vice President, Intellectual Property at Sun Microsystems; Director, Intellectual Property at International Game Technology; and Patent Counsel at Schlumberger. He began his career and passion for intellectual property law with partner Michael Rounds at Townsend and Townsend and Crew, an intellectual property law firm in San Francisco.
Marc is a hockey dad who spends a good part of the winter months lounging around old, run-down ice rinks where he coaches his two older children in the finer points of the game. He is working on getting his youngest child into the sport to extend his coaching career by a few more years.
