Joseph D. (Joe) Floyd was born in High Point, NC on June 27th, 1967 to Joe D. and Bonita Hayes Floyd. His educational Background includes graduating High School from Westchester Academy in 1986; a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Minor in Political Science from Wake Forest University in 1990; and a Juris Doctor from Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 1994. After graduating from Wake Forest University, Mr. Floyd worked as a Special Assistant on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and completed a graduate course in Congressional Office Operations sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture. Mr. Floyd left Washington D.C. after one year in order to enroll in law school.
Mr. Floyd was licensed and admitted to practice law in the North Carolina State Courts in August of 1994, and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina in July 2004.
Mr. Floyd founded his legal career in August of 1994 in the family firm his father, Joe D. Floyd Sr., started in 1966. He began in the general practice of law with his father and sister, Kimberly Hayes Floyd. Mr. Floyd started representing clients regarding estate and domestic matters, juvenile proceedings, and any and all criminal cases that came in the office. Over the last seventeen years Mr. Floyd has represented thousands of clients in the District and Superior Courts of Guilford, Davidson, and Randolph Counties. He has also represented clients in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. He has tried cases ranging from a Class III Misdemeanor to a Class A Felony in the Criminal Courts of North Carolina. These professional legal experiences give him a solid foundation of the Rules of Evidence and a practical knowledge to ensure fair trials and avoid procedural errors. Mr. Floyd also ran for Superior Court Judge in Guilford County District 18 D.
Mr. Floyd is the proud Father of three fine sons:

When not practicing law, Mr. Floyd spends his spare time at his sons’ lacrosse, basketball, baseball and soccer games, as well as various school and community functions throughout the year.
