Fitta, Christine D.

Hibbing native Darrold Persson graduated with distinction in 1977 from the University of North Dakota School of Law, Grand Forks, after obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  While at North Dakota, he was a member of and published for the school law review.

Persson clerked for Edward Matonich beginning in 1975 and joined the firm full time in 1977, wanting—like his eventual partner—to return to the city where he had been raised.

With a focus on personal injury litigation, Persson possesses extensive jury trial experience and has handled numerous claims in the areas of automobile accidents, premises liability, wrongful deaths, and professional negligence—among other facets of civil litigation—many that have totaled awards in excess of a million dollars. 

Persson has been listed among Law and Leading Attorneys in the area of personal injury litigation by the American Research Corporation, and he has also been named a Minnesota “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law and Politics and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine.  He is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, the Minnesota Association for Justice, and the American Association of Justice.  He has earned board certification as a Civil Trial Specialist by both the Minnesota Bar Association and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  Persson was appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court to serve from 1999-2005 as chairman of the 20th District Ethics Commission.  He regularly serves as a mediator and arbitrator at the request of other attorneys.

Deeply involved in both local and state civic groups, Persson has been a member of the Hibbing Lions Club for 30 years and has served as chair of Our Savior's Lutheran Church Foundation for over 15 years. 

An avid outdoorsman, Persson has served as president of the local chapter of the Minnesota Deerhunters Association and currently sits on both the state executive board and executive committee of the Minnesota Deerhunters Association.
