Sarah Cottingham received her A.B. in anthropology with a minor in Japanese from Occidental College. While at Occidental she spent a year studying at Waseda University Kokusaibu in Tokyo, Japan.
After graduation from Occidental, Ms. Cottingham spent three years working as a web developer before enrolling at the Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she earned her J.D. in 2003. While at Tulane Law School Ms. Cottingham worked as a law clerk for the New Orleans City Attorney, and assisted indigent criminal defendants through the Tulane Criminal Law Clinic. After graduating Cum Laude from Tulane, she returned to her home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ms. Cottingham did contract litigation from 2003 to 2005, before accepting a position handling Family Law and Personal Injury cases at the Law Offices of Travis Whitfield, where she worked for two years.
