Eric was born and raised in Osceola, Missouri where he attended Osceola Public Schools until his graduation in 1990. After graduating from high school, Eric attended Missouri State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in Biology. Eric received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Eric and his wife, Angie, were married in February 1998 and have two children, Jacob, 10, and Audrey, 6. Eric and his family currently reside near Raymore, Missouri.
Eric's practice has historically been focused in the areas of commercial finance, real estate finance, real estate, development, land use and public finance and construction law, and includes both litigation and transactional matters.
General Business and Corporate. Eric represents both for-profit and not-for-profit clients. Such representation includes entity formation, mergers, asset purchases and entity maintenance for both local and national clients.
Banking and Finance. Eric represents both lenders and borrowers in asset-based and real estate secured financing transactions. His experience includes review, documentation and negotiation of lending transactions ranging from small-cap traditional financing to multi-billion dollar syndicated deals.
Real Estate. Eric represents clients in the acquisition, acquisition financing, construction financing, selling and leasing of commercial and residential real property. He also assists clients in obtaining necessary local government approvals related to real estate acquisitions and development projects.
Land Use and Public Finance. Eric represents developers, investors and retail and commercial business clients in the use of economic development incentives such as Community Improvement Districts (CID), Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Transportation Development Districts (TDD) and Tax Abatement Programs. He also assists clients regarding general land use and zoning matters.
