Mr. Pape’s practice is centered on general civil litigation. He has assisted in the litigation of cases involving Title VII and section 1981 employment-discrimination claims against both private and government employers for racial discrimination, gender discrimination, and national-origin discrimination; Title IX claims involving liability of school boards; Section 1983 claims (under the Fourth and Fifth Amendments) against municipalities, police officers, sheriffs, and police departments for excessive force, unlawful imprisonment, illegal arrests, and illegal searches and seizures; Section 1983 claims (under the Fifth Amendment) against municipalities for unlawful taking and due-process violations; and claims of municipal and state-agency immunity.Mr. Pape has also been involved with cases concerning contract disputes, products liability claims about automobile parts and culverts, and bankruptcy claims about third-party rights when executory contracts and leases are deemed rejected by the debtor.
