Jacob Steven Oyloe is a senior associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Department and Litigation/Controversy Department. He joined the firm in 2006.
Practice
Mr. Oyloe’s practice is varied and diverse. During his time at the firm he has focused on helping clients in many different technical areas including, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical devices. He has an active litigation practice as well having gone to trial at least once every year since he joined the firm. His current litigation practice has focused on the Eastern District of Texas where he represented both plaintiffs and defendants.
Mr. Oyloe also counsels and assists clients in obtaining patents both domestically and abroad. He works with both well established chemical and biotechnology clients as well as start-up companies and understands that the needs of each differ widely. He also offers assistance in reviewing patent portfolios for valuation and due diligence needs, and has handled a number of trademark applications as well.
Prior to beginning his legal studies, Mr. Oyloe was a development chemist with Millennium Specialty Chemicals in Jacksonville, Florida, where he co-invented and implemented a new method for the manufacture of l-Carvone, the main component of spearmint oil, and developed production methods for two Sandalwood aroma chemicals. He was presented with the company's Chairman's Award for excellence in research and development, awarded annually to only ten projects worldwide.
