Mr. Overand is the second of the firm's homegrown attorneys having been born, raised and educated entirely within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mr. Overand received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College, Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. There Mr. Overand majored in both History and Spanish.
After college, Mr. Overand attended the George Mason University School of Law during which time he clerked with the Fairfax County Courts, with the Fairfax County Office of the Public Defender, and with the law offices of Michael H. Cantrell.
Mr. Overand joined the Fairfax County Office of the Public Defender where he quickly earned a position as a Senior Assistant Public Defender. During his tenure at that office, he represented clients in all manner of cases from driving without a valid operator's license to abduction, rape and murder. After five years in the Office of the Public Defender, Mr. Overand joined with Mr. Brisendine and Mr. Buster to work at the Gordon Law Firm where he continued his strong, zealous representation of people charged with traffic and criminal offenses.
Mr. Overand is also an adjunct Professor of Law at the George Mason University School of Law, a position he has held since 2005. As a Law Professor he trains and supervises law students presenting civil commitment cases before Special Magistrates of the Fairfax General District Court as part of the Mental Illness legal clinic.
