Mr. Cleveland practices exclusively in the intellectual property field of law, which includes all aspects of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, as well as related contracts and litigation.
Mr. Cleveland has substantial experience in the following areas: semiconductors (IC devices and memories, including new semiconductor materials, processes, equipment and process chemicals); optics (including holography, spectrophotometry, elipsometry, particle counters and laser printers); biotech (including attenuated viruses, DNA, immunological bioassays, nutritional supplements, anticancer drugs, topical medicines, biofeedback devices, medical devices, and proteins); filtration and purification systems; telecommunications (including e-commerce business methods, Internet systems and optical switches); flow metering equipment and processes; mechanical devices; trademarks (including all aspects of prosecution, opposition, policing and enforcement); patent opinion work (including numerous infringement, noninfringement and invalidity opinions); and licensing.
From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Cleveland worked at Duft, Graziano and Forest, P.C., in Boulder, Colorado, where he became Managing Director of the firm.
From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Cleveland worked as an associate attorney for Hovey, Williams, Timmons & Collins, P.C., in Kansas City, Missouri.
From 1987 to 1989, he served as senior engineer for Tenneco Oil Company in Houston, Texas. His work included settlement of pipeline take-or-pay disputes and negotiations concerning joint field and facility operations with other oil companies and design and program of analytical systems for use by all petroleum reservoir engineers throughout the company together with worldwide training of engineers in these systems. He also worked as a project coordinator with other oil companies for transfer of producing assets and information following sale and eventual dissolution of the company in 1989.
From 1982 to 1987, he worked both as a reservoir engineer, Gulf of Mexico regional coordinator and business planner for Tenneco Oil Company in Lafayette, Louisiana. During that time, he focused on competitive strategies, competitive analyses, financial planning, product sales management and statistical studies. He was also involved with all aspects of field exploration and exploitation including field management, field development plans, analysis and presentation of exploration projects, well test analysis, well log analysis, field studies, risk studies and lease sale bid analysis.
