Tonya Osborne represents employers in a variety of complex employment matters, including class action and multiplaintiff cases under federal and state employment statutes, administrative investigations and proceedings, and arbitrations and lawsuits related to collective bargaining agreements. She has handled various aspects of class action and multiplaintiff litigation such as fact investigation, written discovery, document review and production, depositions, consulting and testifying experts, and legal research and motions. She has significant experience in administrative investigations and lawsuits, including pattern or practice cases, by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Tonya also advises employers on a range of labor and employment issues, including development and implementation of policies and procedures, hiring, management of employee performance, and termination. She routinely counsels employers with respect to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act and similar state and local leave laws. She has conducted internal investigations of employee complaints ranging from race and sex discrimination to pay disparities and corporate whistleblower claims of financial impropriety. In addition, she has presented employment law seminars to human resource professionals and managers on topics such as sexual harassment, management of employee performance, and records retention.
Tonya is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of the District of Columbia Bar. She is actively involved in a number of civic and charitable organizations. She has sat on several nonprofit boards and is the former co-chair of the Lawyers' Campaign for CollegeBound.
