Doug Epperson's practice is concentrated in the areas of securities litigation, complex business litigation, and class actions. He has represented clients in several securities fraud class actions and shareholder derivative cases in state and federal courts across the country. Doug also has experience in analyzing complex legal issues and drafting motions and briefs. He has researched, written, or assisted in writing briefs on issues including class certification; class settlement; choice of law; removal; Securities and Exchange Act provisions 10b, 14a, 20a, and 20A; the business judgment rule; fiduciary duty; abuse of control; gross mismanagement; waste of corporate assets; unjust enrichment; the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act; attorneys' fees; and discovery issues.
In addition to assisting with the defense of public companies, directors, and officers in securities fraud class actions, Doug has experience with SEC investigations, internal board investigations, multidistrict litigation proceedings, corporate governance counseling, NASD proceedings, and issues relating to directors' and officers' liability insurance. His experience covers all stages of litigation, including pleading, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, settlement, and appeal. Representative clients include Dell, Electronic Data Systems, Southern Company, RadioShack, Michaels Stores, and Ocwen Financial Corp.
Doug is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. He is also actively involved with the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations.
