Timothy S. Emry is an Associate at Powers McCartan. He has been licensed to practice law in North Carolina since 2003. In nearly eight years of practice, Tim has concentrated largely on Criminal Defense. Prior to joining Powers McCartan (Formerly known as Bush & Powers) in January of 2006, Tim worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Mecklenburg County. At the Public Defender's Office, Tim primarily defended cases involving Domestic Violence and Felony Drug Offenses. Tim has broad based experience handling virtually any type of Criminal or Traffic matters. Tim has tried nine jury trials and hundreds of bench trials. Among Tim's other responsibilities at Powers McCartan, he is the primary attorney on all felony related case work. He handles all forms of felony charges. From Drug cases to sex offenses, violent assaults, property and financial crimes, Tim can assist you with your felony matters. Tim also handles all of the expunctions in the office.
Tim is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. He obtained his B.A. in Political Science at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While attending James Madison, Tim was elected as Student Body President and served in that capacity as President of the Student Government Association during the 1998-99 Academic Year. Tim earned his law degree at The Marshall-Wythe School of Law at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. At William and Mary, Tim served in the Student Bar Association all three years of attendance (1999-2002). Tim has been proud to call Charlotte home since 2002.
In his spare time, Tim coaches basketball for Covenant Presbyterian Church. Tim has been coaching youth basketball at Covenant for the last eight seasons. Tim has also helped coach in the Myers Park/Trinity and Dilworth Little Leagues in the past. Additionally, Tim is a certified Master Trainer for LSAT preparation with the Princeton Review. He has taught LSAT and SAT for the Princeton Review since 2004. Tim has also volunteered for the past six years as an on the course marshal for the Wells Fargo PGA Golf Championship in Charlotte. Tim enjoys reading, music, spending time with family and cheering for his favorite sports teams, including: Nebraska Cornhuskers, James Madison University Dukes, Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
