Elsass, Douglas L.

Doug Elsass represents clients in a variety of business disputes. He has many years of experience working on contract, shareholder, partnership, employment and business competition disputes in both trial and arbitration settings. He also has considerable experience in health care and government administrative litigation, including eminent domain cases.  

Doug has been recognized regularly by Minnesota Law and Politics magazine as a "Super Lawyer" in Business Litigation. He has authored seminar materials and co-authored articles, including "Dissenters' Rights Actions Under the Business Corporation Act", Hennepin Lawyer, Vol. 61, No. 5, 1992; "Law Firm Partnership Agreement: Who Needs ’Em?" Bench & Bar, Vol. 54, No. 3, 1997; and “Agree on Partner Points, or Courts May Do It For You,” Upsize, April 2005. He has spoken at seminars regarding minority shareholder disputes, the use of expert witnesses and other business litigation topics.

Doug is a 1981 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Miami University in Ohio and a 1991 cum laude graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School. He also has a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota. He is admitted to state and federal courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and a member of state and local bar associations. He currently serves as President of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He was appointed by the United States District Court to its Federal Practice Committee, which advises the court on rules and procedures.
