Mr. Elliott's primary practice is in transactions and transactional litigation, with emphasis on construction contract law and municipal law. He is experienced in trial practice in both Tennessee and Virginia, as well as in the Federal Courts of both states. Mr. Elliott has been extensively involved in professional activities, including having served as the Chair of both the Legal Ethics Committee and the Judicial Selection Committee of the Virginia State Bar and on several of the State Bar's other committees and on the Professionalism Committee of the Tennessee Bar Association. He is a member of the Tennessee and Virginia Bar Associations, a charter member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel, a member of the Public Contracts section of the Virginia State Bar and charter member of the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, and a member of the American Bar Association and its Litigation section and the Forum Committee on the Construction Industry. He also is an associate member of the Associated General Contractors of America.
Mr. Elliott has been actively involved in the civic affairs of his community, including having served on the Boards of Directors of the Children's Advocacy Center (a pro bono client), the YMCA, the Bristol Ballet Company, Volunteer Bristol, the Bristol Rotary Club, the Board of Governors of Bristol Memorial Hospital, and currently serves on the James H. Street Rotary Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Elliott and his wife Sharon live on a trout stream in Tennessee and in his spare time cycles and hikes the hills and valleys of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina, and is an avid (if aging) competitor in ski racing.
