David Chen represents technology companies in public and private mergers and acquisitions transactions. He also advises companies and investors on venture capital and general corporate matters.
David's recent public transactions include Zoran's sale to CSR ($679 million), Virage Logic's sale to Synopsys ($315 million), and Bell Microproducts's sale to Avnet ($594 million). Representative private M&A transactions include the acquisitions by SAP of Clear Standards, Highdeal, and the assets of SECUDE; the acquisitions by VMware of TriCipher, SlideRocket, and Digital Fuel Technologies; the sale of PageMill Partners to Duff & Phelps; and the acquisition by Virage Logic of assets of the advanced CMOS unit of NXP B.V. (formerly Philips Semiconductors).
Before joining Jones Day, David was a co-founder of a bioinformatics start-up, served as assistant general counsel at an investment bank that was acquired by Goldman Sachs, and practiced as an M&A associate at a major international law firm. He was also a 10-year board member, secretary, and acting treasurer of Homeless Prenatal Program, a $5 million nonprofit in San Francisco.
