Edquist, Matthew B.

Attorney Gene M. Eckel graduated in May 1999 from Creighton University School of Law. He received his B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1994. During law school, Gene served as a member of the Editorial Staff for Creighton Law Review and received the honor of Best Student Article. In addition, Gene served six years in the Nebraska Army National Guard until 1995, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Second Lieutenant. Prior to attending law school Gene served as a legislative aide from 1995-1996 for Nebraska State Senator John Lindsay for the 9th legislative district in Nebraska.

Upon graduating from Creighton University School of Law in 1999, Gene served as a judicial clerk for the District Court Judges of the Fourth Judicial District of Nebraska for two years. Since 2001, Gene has practiced in the areas of insurance defense litigation, real estate and foreclosures, commercial litigation, retail and commercial debt collection, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, landlord & tenant law and general business representation.

Gene served as Chair of the Nebraska Real Estate & Practice Guidelines Committee in 2008 and 2009 and is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association House of Delegates for 2010-2014. In addition, Gene is a graduate of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy.

Gene is an "AV" rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell.

Gene is admitted to the Nebraska State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska.
