Kerri O’Brien is a member of the Professional Liability Department where the focus of her practice is in the defense of non-medical professionals, in claims made and suits brought against lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers, and real estate professionals. Additonally, she has experience handling complex commercial litigation cases and she has represented corporations and governmental entities in matters, including insurance insolvency, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and business torts.
While Kerri concentrates a large portion of her practice to professional negligence claims, she began her career representing defendants in all areas of general liability and bodily injury litigation, with an emphasis on negligent security, premises liability, motor vehicle negligence, products liability, and wrongful death. Kerri’s clients are diverse and she has handled a wide array of professional liability, commercial and casualty cases in federal and state courts.
In 2004 Kerri graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she earned both a B.A. and B.S. degree. She then attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she earned her J.D. in 2007.
While attending law school, Kerri served as Articles Editor for the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law. Also, prior to being admitted to the bar, she received a Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellowship and did pro bono work for the Guardian Ad Litem Program, Legal Aid Service of Broward County, and AIDS Project Florida.
