Lou graduated from Georgetown University in 1998, receiving his B.A. in both History and Government, with a Physics minor. Prior to attending law school, Lou was a Surface Warfare Officer (Nuclear) in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower as a Reactor Propulsion Division Officer and the USS Paul Hamilton as an Electronic Warfare Officer, Public Affairs Officer and Administrative Officer.
Lou received his J.D. in 2008, with distinction, from the University of Iowa, and the same year he also received his MBA from the Tippie School of Management. While at the University of Iowa, Lou was a Note and Comment Editor for the Iowa Law Review and also had an article published entitled "Sarbanes Oxley Section 501(a): No Implied Private Right of Action, and a Call to Congress for an Express Private Right of Action to Enhance Analyst Disclosure." 93 Iowa L. Rev. 1919.
Lou is a member of the Polk County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Lou was admitted to the Iowa bar in 2008.
