I am native to North Carolina, where I attended school and practiced law for almost five years in the law school clinic and a legal aid office. There I got a background in general civil practice, handling primarily administrative law (Social Security, unemployment, and other benefits appeals), small commercial or consumer-law cases, bankruptcies, and domestic work such as custody trials and divorces. I came away from this experience with a firm conviction that practicing law, perhaps like most professional work, primarily involves problem solving, whether by litigation, counsel and advice, or otherwise. Outside the legal sphere, I have many interests and a willingness to learn new things, which I believe serve me well in gaining perspective and understanding of my clients’ concerns. In my private practice, I now strive to provide reasonably priced (or even when I can, discounted) service with a total-solution based strategy--in other words, I try to get my clients fair results without focusing on billing concerns.
I have been practicing in Pennsylvania since 2004 (actively since 2005), and have encountered a wide variety of cases here, from simple unemployment hearings to appeals before both the Superior and Commonwealth Courts. Although I no longer take Social Security cases on a regular basis, I have added to my experience some criminal work, including several trials, and material assistance to a colleague in federal commercial litigation; I continue to do domestic, bankruptcy, and administrative law on a regular basis. I am familiar with the judges and court procedures in Lebanon County; I also have appeared in the Courts of Common Pleas for Berks, Schuylkill, Dauphin, Cumberland, and Bedford counties, and the U.S. Bankruptcy and District Courts for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
