John Alan Roberts is a native of Los Angeles who has been on a mission to provide aggressive representation to individuals and businesses who have been injured in some way, whether by physical harm, property damage, damage to business, or damage to economic interests.
Mr. Roberts graduated from UCLA in 1987 and obtained his law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1996. Prior to law school, Mr. Roberts wrote screenplays, worked for the University of California Police Department and taught English for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
In 1995, Mr. Roberts began working as a law clerk for Girardi & Keese, a prominent plaintiffs' law firm located in downtown Los Angeles. He became a member of the firm in 1996 after passing the California Bar.
There, Mr. Roberts worked on a variety of cases many of them high profile in the areas of personal injury, multi-party toxic tort litigation, product liability, wrongful termination, and theft of trade secrets among others.
While at the firm, Mr. Roberts participated in over a dozen jury trials and several binding arbitrations. Among the notable cases Mr. Roberts handled were B. Braun v. Rogers, a case in which an inventor of a medical valve had his design stolen by a worldwide medical products company. After over four years of litigation, his clients won a $25 million-dollar jury verdict in the United States District Court in San Diego in the trial handled by Robert Keese.
In Henderson v. Serial Killer, Mr. Roberts and John A. Girardi represented actress Florence Henderson in an invasion of privacy lawsuit that was successfully settled.
In 2003, Mr. Roberts went to work for Mathews & Rager in Pasadena. There, Mr. Roberts continued to represent plaintiffs in a variety of areas, including employment law, products liability and breach of business agreements.
Working with founding partner Charles T. Mathews, Mr. Roberts was involved in several jury trials including Mass Media v. KXLA TV in which his client obtained a $5.2 million dollar jury verdict.
Currently, Mr. Roberts continues to represent plaintiffs with the emphasis in bad faith insurance, employment law and personal injury. Mr. Roberts is a member or the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
